Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital is seeking Pediatric Nurse Practitioner faculty. The position will be full-time, faculty, academic at the Clinical Instructor level. Requirements include: New York State License as a Nurse Practitioner; Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner, and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner; at least one year of full time clinical experience working in Pediatrics is required. The candidate must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to carry out assignments independently. Preference will be given to candidates with five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics, who are Certified Family Nurse Practitioners and have experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine services and associated technological advances


The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner may provide direct care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook Children's Hospital and at the satellite practice locations in collaboration with an Attending Physician. Other responsibilities include: Will provide education of staff nurses; will confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care; ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures; contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services; assist in the annual review Nurse Practitioner protocols.
