Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook seeks to hire the Chief of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Requirements include MD/DO Degree; Board Certified in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience and interest in developing a research program. Previous Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics leadership experience is highly desired.


The compensation and academic rank will be competitive and commensurate with experience.


The Chief is responsible for providing leadership for the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital which serves a pediatric population of nearly 500,000. Stony Brook Children's is the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center and is a regional resource for children's health. The Chief will have the goal of advancing the field of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics through patient care, practice innovation, research and education. Responsibilities include development of research programs, teaching and participation in patient care programs appropriate to a major university. Individuals will be selected on the basis of their training, clinical experience, research potential and their commitment to teaching. Candidates must have a commitment to excellence, education, patient safety and collaboration.


The position will be full-time, faculty, academic (Associate Professor or Professor). To qualify for an appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor the candidate must meet the School of Medicine's criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
