Description


 


The Department of Pediatrics at Stony Brook Children's Hospital is seeking Nurse Practitioner faculty. The position will be full-time, faculty, academic at the Clinical Instructor level. Requirements include: New York State License as a Nurse Practitioner; Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner, and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner; at least one year of full time clinical experience working in Pediatrics is required.


 


The candidate must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to carry out assignments independently. Preference will be given to candidates with five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.


 


The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct care to patients in the Division of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology. The Nurse Practitioner will help build programs and help with follow up care and will assist with Pediatric Allergy/Immunology's Immunotherapy Program by managing the mixing and maintenance of serums and other duties as required.


 


Other responsibilities include: Provide education of staff nurses; confer with patient(s) to obtain accurate information for records, explain procedures, allay fears and elicit cooperation and engagement in plan of care; ensure execution of provider established plan of care including but not limited to follow up visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic lab, imaging studies and/or procedures; contribute to patient care through patient and family education, population health management, encouraging patient self-management, distributing resource literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed; maintain liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services; assist in the annual review Nurse Practitioner protocols.


 


Individuals will be selected on the basis of their training, clinical experience, research potential and their commitment to teaching. Faculty appointment will be commensurate with qualifications.


 


Qualifications


 


Required Qualifications: New York State License as a Nurse Practitioner, Master's Degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner and certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner; at least one year of full time clinical experience working in Pediatrics.


 


Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years of clinical experience working in Pediatrics.
