Job Description:

The Campus Dean/Director of Nursing directs academic operations of the nursing programs on campus to ensure all students receive a quality education in a friendly environment. This role also evaluates program quality and maintains accreditation standards. The Campus Dean/Director of Nursing manages faculty including hiring/selection, orientation, development, supervision, evaluation and discipline and works to acquire new and maintain current clinical sites to meet the demands of the courses and students. This role also provides critical communication to facilitate role performance and program functioning and will participate in planning measures to achieve academic success for students. This role is fully on-site at our Maumee campus. Generous relocation package available for out of state applicants.


 


Responsibilities:


 


• Directs academic operations of nursing programs on a single campus


• Provides academic advising and support to all students in lecture, lab, clinical, and via general education and select nursing courses taken via distance education.


• Works collaboratively with appropriate central support services personnel to ensure high-quality delivery of educational content and information via the College's learning management system.


• Provides technical support to students in accessing electronic educational products.


• Supervises student registration in collaboration with Campus Executive Director


• Follows governance reporting structures and all written policies and procedures


• Serves in a faculty role as needed in emergent situations


• Develops quarterly staffing plan and faculty teaching schedule based on workload parameters


• Contributes to the budgetary needs of campus including supervision of lab budget


• Addresses all classroom, lab and clinical issues and concerns identified


• Supervises nursing lab budgetary purchases and needs for campus


• Assures qualified, competent faculty are hired and placed as indicated by numbers and budgetary decisions


• Manages all faculty and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) including staff/headcount planning, interviewing, hiring, orienting and mentor/coaching, and disciplining faculty; document interactions as indicated


• Provides orientation to all faculty and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports


• Maintains quality and retention of faculty through mentoring, supervising, and evaluating faculty in classroom, lab, and clinical area to assure curriculum implemented as written


• Supervises faculty file records with assistance from HR


• Secures clinical sites of quality and quantity to meet educational and enrollment needs; record on site


• Provides critical communications to single site for process improvement by calling, facilitating, and documenting Faculty Organization Meetings (leads faculty organization meeting)


• Arranges and conducts Community Advisory meetings annually to facilitate communication at community level regarding curriculum


• Participates in all accreditation visits


• Other duties as assigned


 


Position Requirements:


 


• Completion of an approved professional nursing program. A minimum of a Master's Degree with a major in nursing.


• At least five years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse and prior leadership/managerial experience; a minimum of two years teaching experience in a professional registered nursing program as a faculty member required.


• Ability to identify and resolve complex issues


• Ability to set priorities and organize tasks


• Excellent verbal and written communication


• Thorough knowledge of role differentiation of practice between LPN versus RN role
